The steam-powered Batter-Berger appears as a bronze coloured, pod-shaped machine with a bronze metal "wings" on its sides. It also has a white hotspot under each wing and its underside.
It also has pipes present on its back, these probably being a part of its engine. Streams of green gas come out of some of these pipes, two on the left and right sides, two on its underside and two on its top. Baron Battenberg pilots it from a cockpit on its top.
The steam-powered Batter-Berger is found in levels ten and twenty-four, acting as a boss. Here, it moves around the room in a pattern, both contact with the cockpit and the green gas being harmful. To defeat it, Dirk Valentine must attack one of the machine's white hotspots. Shooting one of these will damage the machine. Upon shooting the hotspot enough times, the machine will explode.
The battle in level ten and the battle in level twenty-four are mostly the same, level twenty-four changing the battle slightly by causing the steam-powered Batter-Berger to drop guards when it comes near the ground.
- Maxwell Merlock's machine from Final Ninja Zero is similar in shape, design, and actions to the steam-powered Batter-Berger.
